THE WHOLE COUNTRY EXPERIENCED 1,485 FIRE AND EXPLOSION INCIDENTS IN THE FIRST 9 MONTHS OF 2023.
In the first 9 months of 2023, the entire country witnessed 1,485 fire and explosion incidents, resulting in 132 fatalities and 115 injuries, with estimated damages of 210.5 billion Vietnamese dong. Although this marks a 60.8% decrease compared to the same period in 2022, it still caused significant harm to both human lives and property.
Particularly severe was the fire incident that occurred on September 12th at a mini apartment building, located at house number 37 in alley 29/70, Khương Hạ street, Khương Đình ward, Thanh Xuân district, Hanoi, resulting in 56 fatalities and 37 injuries.
Behind these fire incidents lies the pain of families who have lost loved ones, economic losses for investors, and the concern of workers about an unsafe working environment. To prevent the risk of fires and explosions and ensure effective fire prevention efforts, we need to implement specific measures, including:
- Providing the necessary skills and responsibilities for the leaders of businesses in fire prevention and firefighting knowledge.
- Simultaneously, businesses, investors, and contractors should use reputable fire-resistant materials to minimize hazards in case of fires or explosions.
- Additionally, establishments should regularly and periodically conduct fire safety checks to prevent unfortunate incidents and enforce compliance with fire safety regulations and rules.
- Develop and practice fire-fighting plans for business and working areas.
